AXBL Season Opener 2010

The Tippinators Paintball Team entered a new era for 2010. The membership has expanded to the extent that two teams are playing the Atlantic Xtreme Paintball League under the Tippinators banner.

Through 2010, the HFX Cyclones, set up as a feeder team to the Tippinators (Cyclone feeds a Tippmann… Get it?) will play AX4, four man xball league. The Tippinators will again play the five man AXBL, xball league.

The Cyclones, played the first game of their history, Saturday May 22, 2010 at Armymans Paintball, Truro NS . The Cyclones are a true starter team. Half the players had never played a competitive point of speedball prior to AX4 event 1.

The rookies were thrown into the deep end of the pool, with a few veterans, but showed poise beyond their experience, keeping both games on Saturday competitive against the two best teams in the league.

"That was the best time I have ever had playing paintball.” said Cyclones rookie Jason Thomson “I can’t wait for event 2."

Who says lightning never strikes twice, or three times maybe. Tippinators in AXBL event 1, played on May 23, is the exception that disproves the rule.

The Tippinators once again allowed the opposing team to score unanswered points at the beginning of the game. The strong Newfoundland Wreckhouse team went up 5-0 on the Tipps right from the start before the lightening strike of unanswered points brought the team to life

"We played a great game once we woke up.” said Justin Landry, “If we could only find a way to play strong right from the opening horn."

The Tippinators played Newfoundland head to head, trading points back and forth for the remainder of the game. Despite their best efforts the team was unable to overcome the Wreckhouse initial lead.

The Tippinators afternoon game against the Halifax Maniacs seemed more like a practice than a game of competitive xball.

The Tippinators and Maniacs have a long and shared history together. The players are friends on and off the field, they practice, play recball and drink with each other.

The game was relaxed and great fun for both teams. Unfortunately the Tippinators came out on the short end of the score board.
